“Innerscape” is a series of imagined emotional landscapes, each accompanied with its own soundtrack, played in Korean traditional string instrument called Gayageum, composed and performed by the artist.

This series traces the confusing, unsettling experience while becoming someone different over time. It grows out of life between different places and cultures, where belonging is always partial and the sense of home stretches, blurs, and sometimes slips away. Each painting reflects the feeling of standing between two worlds, absorbing the overwhelming influence of a new environment while feeling a growing distance from the home country. Moments of confusion, constant adaptation, and the sensation that she does not fully belong to either side are compressed into these inner landscapes. “Innerscape” reflects the feelings and memories when identity shifts, when the self feels unstable, stretched, or shaken by different expectations and meanings, circling around the question of ‘what is the truest version of oneself?’.

The sound pieces played in Gayageum, the Korean traditional string instrument, contribute the ambiance of contradiction of culture and her redefining identity. The soundtracks also extend the paintings into a sensory field where sound and colour fuse into one emotional state, so the viewer does not only see the landscape but feels its rhythm, tension, and shifts in mood as if moving through her lived memory.

Through this series, the artist asks the audience to imagine themselves inside these otherworldly spaces and to respond freely to what they feel or remember, treating the memories of disorientation, confusion, or sense of becoming different being as triggering points for deeper thought and conversation.
